John Arnold is a growth-oriented enterprise executive with more than 25 years of leadership experience across government contracting, national security, global operations, corporate strategy, and business transformation. He is known for leading organizations through inflection points including rapid growth, turnaround, post-acquisition integration, 8(a) transition, operating model redesign, and scale-up in complex, highly regulated environments. His career spans leadership roles in tribally owned enterprises, Alaska Native Corporation portfolios, multi-entity government services businesses, and globally dispersed operating platforms serving defense, federal civilian, intelligence-adjacent, and critical infrastructure missions.
Mr. Arnold currently leads a roughly $300 million multi-entity government services portfolio within Cherokee Federal, with responsibility for business performance, operations, growth, and service delivery across approximately 950 employees operating in more than 170 locations. During his tenure, the portfolio has delivered 20 percent year-over-year revenue growth and 43 percent net income growth, while generating $401 million in contract awards and overseeing a broad active contract base spanning defense, federal civilian, and national security customers. His leadership has focused on strengthening operating cadence, sharpening accountability, improving cost discipline, and aligning delivery organizations more tightly with growth and enterprise value creation.
Previously, Mr. Arnold served in a senior operating role at Akima, where he was recruited to help reposition a portfolio of graduated 8(a) companies for success in the full-and-open competitive market. There, he improved financial performance, accelerated cash flow, strengthened audit and compliance outcomes, and helped secure major prime contract wins in support of national security and federal technology missions. His experience includes leading organizations through the transition from set-aside environments into more competitive enterprise operating models while preserving execution quality, customer trust, and growth momentum.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Arnold held a series of executive leadership roles with Agility Defense & Government, including Chief Operating Officer, Managing Director, and Director of Mergers & Acquisitions and Strategy. In those roles, he led multi-country operating businesses, turned around underperforming companies, integrated acquisitions, built new growth functions, and helped scale a defense and government business from startup stage to an 8,000-plus employee global platform. As COO, he led a $160 million annual P&L across more than 30 sites in 14 countries with responsibility spanning operations, business development, finance, IT, HR, legal, and compliance. Across his broader career, he has helped generate more than $12 billion in captured federal revenue, including leading and mentoring business development and capture organizations responsible for $11.2 billion in contract awards.
Mr. Arnold’s leadership background extends beyond traditional services businesses. He has also led high-CAPEX, asset-intensive, logistics, infrastructure, and industrial operating environments where pricing discipline, throughput, safety, compliance, working capital management, and return on invested capital materially shaped enterprise results. This breadth gives him unusual versatility as an executive operator, particularly in organizations seeking a leader who can combine growth vision with operating rigor, governance credibility, and disciplined execution.
He brings substantial experience working with boards, executive stakeholders, and complex ownership structures, including prior board service and years of board-facing reporting, strategy execution, and governance support. His career has consistently centered on building stronger leadership teams, creating scalable operating systems, integrating growth and delivery, and positioning enterprises for durable performance in competitive and mission-critical markets.
Mr. Arnold began his career in the United States Army, where he served as an AH-64 Apache helicopter pilot, Captain, and Company Commander. His military service helped forge the mission-first leadership style, accountability, and decisiveness that continue to define his approach as an executive. He holds a Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He also holds active U.S. Department of Defense Top Secret and Department of Energy Q clearances.
